Why Lose Weight According to Artificial Intelligence (AI)?This TOPS column has previously addressed the topic of why we might want to lose weight. Mobility, bone health, energy levels, social and emotional well-being, chronic disease management, longevity, cognitive health, quality of sleep, are all legitimate goals that might motivate us to join TOPS and lose pounds or just maintain a healthy weight.
But there are other, more esoteric reasons, and with a little help from my house mate while he was playing computer-geek, I decided to approach this topic by using AI. Here are just a few of the other motives for weight-loss that AI suggested.
Are you into Cosplay? You might want to lose weight to fit into specific costumes for conventions or costume parties.
Do you have extreme hobbies? Skydiving, bungee jumping, or other extreme sports might have specific weight restrictions for safety reasons, that you have to meet.
Are you a professional wrestler or performance artist? Do you need to maintain a certain weight range for your role or performance or to get those six-pack abs?
Do you want to get a cosmetic tattoo? You might aim to lose weight in order to enhance the aesthetics and placement of the tattoo on your body.
Do you love wearing vintage clothing? You might want to lose weight to fit into clothing styles from certain eras that have specific sizes and proportions, such as tiny waists.
And finally, riders, if you enjoy horseback riding you might find that weight loss improves your balance, posture, and overall riding experience.
The debates about artificial Intelligence and chatbots are going on everywhere. They may have something to offer a person who thinks their weight is an issue, but be aware that the information can be unbelievable, or just plain false. Michio Kaku, a theoretical physicist, said chatbots like Open AI's and ChatGPT can't even distinguish true from false and are like “a glorified tape recorder.”
While everyone’s motivations and situations are uniquely theirs, having good medical advice, and ongoing trustworthy, caring, and friendly support that you can rely on, is the sensible way to go. Whatever your reasons for wanting to adjust your weight, TOPS membership is a great option, especially for keeping your focus, and carrying on even when you occasionally feel like giving up. We’re a great support group that you can always rely on to help you meet your goals. Please join us at TOPS Wednesday mornings at the Community Centre, from 9:00 to 10:00.
