In the politics of the world - Ukraine, USA, Europe - Kaja is a rising star to many.
She's a new hero for us - little known hereabouts. Great thinker & speaker - simple, clear, driven, and knows the territory.
Her appearances on FB show someone who is expressive, has a passion and a joy in her work - un
like so many other leaders.
For the benefit of Euro-Nazis, Russian government hackers and trolls, and many otherwise challenged guys all around the world, she's some kind of a (feminine) threat, and so an online target. She gets some of the best hate commentary on the planet, just for being a pleasant, pert looking, well-dressed woman, who is likely the smartest kid in the room, and too nice and articulate for even trump types to insult directly.
She works to consolidate euro values and policy across a wide spectrum of disputing, dithering, constantly changing local, national and international actors. Wrangling politicians like a herd of cats!
And she doesn't like Russia and anything allied. (Guess why? She grew up in, and became premier of, Estonia).
"My father was one of the people who led the Estonian negotiations to join NATO. Back then, I remember, he was often asked, ‘Why do you need this? Russia does not pose a threat any more.’ But we knew our neighbour then and we know our neighbour now. Although the Soviet Union collapsed, Russia’s imperialist ideology never did. We knew we needed to avoid being left in a grey zone of security in Europe. Grey zones breed conflict and wars. We have seen that in the case of Ukraine. Russia did not invade Ukraine because of NATO – it invaded because Ukraine is not in NATO."
And (Google AI) : "In March 1949, during the Soviet occupation of Estonia, Kallas’s mother (then six months old), grandmother, and great-grandmother were deported to Siberia in a cattle car."
She has savvy dealing with Russians. Some say she has forced restrained Brussels (EU) to consider that outside its comfortable bubble the world is not all rainbows and unicorns, and that leaders must cease dithering, and need to use clear thinking and common sense . She is decisive and straightforward, which is why many of her colleagues have nicknamed her the "Princess of War", with quotes like.
- "Putin cannot be trusted to honour any promise or commitment. "
- "Therefore, security guarantees must be strong and credible enough to deter Russia from re-grouping and re-attacking."
- "The focus should be on what kind of concessions we see from the Russian side,"

- Eudebates has flooded facebook with charming photos and news clips, almost as if Kaja is a new poster-girl: I wonder at their approach, who's doing it and why. The poor webscraper app almost burned up. ( .. go see ..)
The latest discussion is around if Kaja should be the main negotiator in talks with Russia; Putin says no. Kaja noted in a speech that there is often a toxic masculinity in treaty discussions, and that there is good evidence that when women are part of the process, ceasefires are way more durable.
