Way back in the ‘Sixties, The Jefferson Airplane sang,

“One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small,
And the ones that mother gives you, don't do anything at all.
Go ask Alice, when she’s ten feet tall.”
Did your new pills cause you to get larger? Gain weight?

So, if your think your medication is standing in the way of healthy weight loss, what can you do? Don’t try a DIY approach to changing your meds. And definitely don’t ask Alice. Instead, discuss the medication's benefits and side effects with your doctor. Together you can consider alternatives, or perhaps you might be able to switch to a lower dose of your current medication. If you can’t adjust your medications, you still have choices. Consider managing your weight by eating healthier foods and getting more physical activity. You might even have to choose between the benefits of your medications and weight loss. Your provider may advise that you see a dietitian to help you make better eating choices
