Thanks for the photos.  I also found the book that Julian and Diane put together and read some more about out Grandfather.

Did you know:

    In 1900 he was a draftsman for the West Manufacturing Company in Buffalo, NY
    1901, he was a draftsman for the Pan American Exposition then became assistant engineer with Wallace C. Johnson, a consulting engineering firm in Niagara Falls
    He became superintendent of SWP in Montreal
    In 1909, age 30, he was named general superintendent and Chief engineer
    He was an associate member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers, and a member of the Engineers Club and American University Alumni Association of Montreal
    In 1915, he was promoted to Vice – President and Chief Engineer for SWP
    At the start of the 1920’s he was “upper management at Shawinigan Water and Power Company
    In 1919 –or so, He was vice President and Director of the Dominion Engineering Works in Lachine.
    In 1922, he received an honourary degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D) from Queen’s University in Ontario
    In 1924, he became the President of the Montreal Tramway Company.
    Julian was instrumental with discussions in reaching a muti company four -way agreement, negotiating with then Prime of Quebec;  Minister L.A, Taschereau
    In 1928,he was named President of the Engineering Institute of Canada and an honourary degree of L.L.D  from McGill
    In 1928, he was elected to Honourary President of the Montreal District Boy Scout movement.
    1931, he was elected to the Board of Governors of McGill Also, listed in the “Who’s Who”
    Julian’s personal income in 1934 was over $90,000. (over 2 million in today’s market)

 

And much more. Interesting material, I never knew. I also didn’t know that they lived in Westmount and one location was Winchester, another Lansdown.

 

                It would have been quite something to have known him.
